A Medical Office Assistant
has a variety of responsibilities, including greeting and directing
patients, answering telephones, updating and maintaining electronic
medical records, obtaining insurance verification and authorization,
admitting and scheduling patients, processing insurance claim forms,
arranging for hospital admission and laboratory services, patient and
insurance billing, medical collections, accounts receivable and payable,
bookkeeping and other duties that are required for efficient health
care delivery and reimbursement.
The Medical Office Assisting
profession has become essential to efficient medical office administration.
Physicians, medical clinics, long-term nursing facilities, insurance
companies, and other healthcare related businesses are looking for
Medical Office Assistants with the training
and skills to help manage their day-to-day operations.

The Medical Office Assistant Program
(MOA) at PCI Health
Training Center prepares a graduate to work as an entry-level
medical front office assistant, receptionist, medical billing and collections,
appointment scheduler or medical records clerk in a variety of healthcare
settings including physicians offices, psysican medical centers, clinics,
hospitals, hospital job, nursing homes ambulatory care centers, and
medical billing offices.
The Medical Office Assistant Program is
designed specifically to provide students with necessary office management
and technical skills to become an integral part of the professional
office environment. Medical office assistants are trained in areas
including medical terminology, computer applications, and basic medical
front office functions. Start your medical career.
Students will concentrate on medical terminology, medical ethics and
OSHA regulations, computer skills / training, medical records management,
patient charting, billing practices and insurance filing procedures
and learn a variety of medical / dental office administration procedures.
You will develop office administrative skills including: bookkeeping,
billing and collection, records management, patient data collection,
typing, insurance claims, record management, medical transcription,
CPT codes Icd9 diagnostic codes word processing, appointment scheduling,
written correspondence and telephone techniques.
