Allied health professionals comprise the largest group of health care providers in the United States.

Allied health workers are involved with the delivery of health care and health related services. These individuals total over 3 million in number and comprise the bulk of the entire U.S. health care workforce. In the State of Texas there are over 270,000 men and women in the allied health profession.

Allied health professionals are trained in the identification, evaluation, treatment and prevention of diseases, injuries and medical conditions. They also assist the public with education on wellness, prevention of disorders, dietary and nutritional services and developing healthy lifestyles. Finally, they assist in health management delivery systems that enhance overall patient care.

If you are interested in starting a career in the allied health field, PCI Health Training Center offers a number of entry level career training options including: the Medical Assistant Program, Medical Office Assistant Program, Psychiatric Assistant Program and our latest training program (launched in January 2005) the Patient Care Technician.
